DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.

If you’ve even been fortunate enough to have a tour of my walk-in-robe then it’ll come as no surprise that I love playing ‘Dress-Up!’ I remember our builder making comment that the size of my closet was excessive, to this day I still haven’t forgiven him for that level of rudeness! The truth is, size does matter and I believe it’s essential that you have a well-designed space to accommodate all of the pretty things we accumulate over time.

Fashion is something that is an extension of your personality. It gives people a little hint about who you are on the inside. I’d describe my style as different, a bit left-of-centre. I dress for me, what suits my body shape and I’m not afraid to stand out in a crowd. One of the issues I believe we’re faced with in our 40s is finding clothes that aren’t too young but that your Mother wouldn’t wear either.

One of the labels I’m loving at the moment is Binny. This Australian born clothing range created by Adelaide local Binny Watson meets my brief for unique designs and prints that are well made but more importantly easy to wear. When I’m dressed in Binnywear I feel like me; bold, feminine and luxe. Their range is perfect for this time of year as well when parties are a plenty and you can easily transition from day to night simply by changing your accessories. You can find Binny online but I’m an old-fashioned girl at heart and like to try things on first, touch the fabric and always appreciate some objective style advice from a fashion assistant. One of my favourite boutiques to find a great range of Binny and many other hard-to-find labels is Sweet Charlotte at their stores in Caloundra and Warana. The staff are fantastic so be warned, you & your credit card might just become addicted!

So my advice if you want to be fabulous and forty is take risks. Wear things that make you feel good, don’t follow the crowd and dare to be different! Go shopping often, not always with the intention to buy things but in the name of research, learn what works for you and what doesn’t. After all, who doesn’t love an excuse to go shopping!

Check Binny out!
