Like a kid in a candy store.

I love cars and not just any type but the ‘Oh wow, what is that’ kind! I was recently a guest at Polo in the City with the team from Pacific Jaguar Land Rover and had one of those moments that literally stopped me from focusing on my glass of Pol Roger, hard to believe I know. I saw it, the newest addition to the Land Rover family, the Velar! As I ooed and arghed, my enthusiasm paid off when I was kindly gifted the opportunity to drive one for a day.

When I arrived at Pacific Jaguar Land Rover they had my car waiting for me in front of the dealership. It’s one of those cars that you can’t stop staring at, it’s so sleek and luxurious. Before I even jumped in the driver’s seat I couldn’t help but start checking out its features. From a design perspective it’s simply unique and the exceptional standard you’d expect from Land Rover. It sits between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport models in terms of size. One of the things I loved was the detailing on the exterior, rose gold elements on the R-Dynamic SE. For the ladies reading this, I know I have your attention! I love that you’re able to open the boot from either corner of the back of the car simply by moving your foot underneath. Handy when you’re out and about with your hands full with kids, shopping trolleys and that much needed coffee.

Once I got those hot little keys in my hand I was off. The car felt so smooth on the road, had some serious talk under the hood and surprisingly was exceptionally quiet for a diesel engine as well. Its interior is spacious, the perfect size for a family but feels like you’re driving a sedan. I’d compare sitting in the seats to the feeling of an expensive lounge and the leather and timber detailing is especially glamorous. The technology in the Velar I believe sets a new standard in motoring. The dual touch screens are such an individual selling point and the car features are simply endless. My particular favourite is the Remote Pack option that allows you the advantage of interacting remotely with the car using most smartphones and even your Apple Watch, how cool is that!

You know you really love a car when you’re asked as you’re dropping the keys off your thoughts and you’re response is; ‘I didn’t want to give it back!’ So pop into Pacific Jaguar Land Rover sometime soon and take the Velar for a test drive but a word of caution, you’ll want one!
